The Deadnotes are an Indie-Punk band from Germany who have recently struck the music scene with their powerful, captivating music. The band has been involved in European tours with acts, such as Don Broco and the Front Bottoms. On Feb. 18, their newest single “Makeup” was released across multiple platforms.

“Makeup” combines sad, aggressive sounds with an underlying hopeful, euphoric tone. Frontman Darius Lohmüller’s gritty lyrics and vocal intonation contrasts high guitar notes and glowing drumming. One must not mistake The Deadnotes for any other punk act, but instead listen for the emotional cues provided in their work. The video for “Makeup” reflects the sentiments expressed in the song, presenting anxiety-inducing situations that pull at viewer’s heartstrings and ending with confident anticipation. The Deadnotes are set to tour through March, and will hopefully produce more successful work in the future.
