You’re never to old to play dress-up; just ask Delta Delta Delta. The sorority will be hosting a celebrity couples formal on Oct. 29 for sorority sisters and their dates. Costume ideas include Robin Hood and Maid Marion, John Lennon and Yoko Ono and characters Vivian and Edward from “Pretty Woman.”

Greek life will also be sponsoring a Halloween party for children of the Villanova faculty and staff. The party will be hosted in the Quad and conducted by various sororities and fraternities on campus.

For younger trick-or-treaters all over the country this year, Spiderman is the hottest costume on the shelves. It’s the number-one selling costume at Spirit Halloween Superstores, a chain with over 175 stores nationwide. In fact, its popularity has quadrupled over previous years, showing the huge influence Hollywood has on trick-or-treaters.

Other popular costumes this year include such movie characters as Harry Potter, Satine from “Moulin Rouge” and Jango Fett from “Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.”

Big names also include cartoon characters from Nickelodeon, including Spongebob Squarepants, Bob the Builder and Dora the Explorer.

Trick-or-treating divas can be seen often this year as well, fully equipped with leopard striped pants, sequined tops, boas, microphones and platform shoes. Batman and Superman remain high on trick-or-treater’s lists.

Why? The molded pecks. This patented manufacturing process from Rubie’s Costume Co. gives trick-or-treaters the look of big muscles under their costumes, making them feel bigger and stronger than ever.

Not so strong this year, however, is the grim reaper, along with other bad-guy images. Ever since Sept. 11, the heroic image has been in and has turned this year to the fantasy kind.

The hottest adults can be seen dressed up in costumes ranging from Austin Powers to Ozzy Osbourne.

The traditional classic remains the orange and blue tuxedos Lloyd and Harry wore in the comedy “Dumb and Dumber.”

For those Villanovans still unsure about costume ideas, costumeideazone .com has plenty. Costumes range from jellyfish to kitty litter, and are sure to score you some compliments this Halloween, or at least a Butterfinger.
