Students granted prestigious awards

Those honored include: Dan DiCenso ’05, winner of one of 38 Gates Cambridge scholarships awarded nationally; Diane Coffey ’06, winner of one of 75 Harry S. Truman scholarships awarded nationally; Morgan Jones ’06, winner of one of 320 Barry M. Goldwater scholarships awarded nationally; Kelly Doyle ’06, winner of one of 80 Udall scholarships awarded nationally. Doyle is the first Villanovan to win a Udall, which recognizes outstanding potential in students who plan on pursuing careers in public policy, health care or environmental policy.

Several students have been named finalists in the competitions for other awards. Thomas Emerson has been named a Truman finalist. Kristen Carey , Lindsay Shoff and Imran Punekar have been named finalists in the Fulbright competition. Daniel Greenspan has been named a Fulbright alternate. Carey has also been awarded the Phi Kappa Phi graduate scholarship and has been named a finalist in the Marshall competition. Katie Halcovage was awarded Honorable Mention in the National Science Foundation’s graduate research fellowship program.
