Remember that big paper you had to write? You waited until the last minute, did all your research online, stayed up until all hours of the night fueled on WaWa French Vanilla Cappuchino’s and a pure will not to fail Intro to Christian Theology again.

The relief you felt the next day, after falling into bed upon handing the paper in, must have felt like a world was lifted off your shoulders.

Now imagine how the girl’s lacrosse team feels, after waiting 11 game for their first win.

The girls worked twice as hard as you did on your paper, preparing during the off season, missing meals for practice, fighting, sweating and bleeding on the field. But they just could not get over the hump. Until Saturday.

Senior Amy Rocap almost willed the team to victory, a 9-8 score over the Bucknell Bisons. Rocap scored 4 goals, and came against a Bison team that had won 5 consecutive home games.

Becky Gardner netted two more scores, and Jess Bozena and Lauren Latchford shared the goal, finishing with 4 saves. The Wildcats came fast and furious. Besides the nine goals, they also forced the Bucknell goalie to make 11 saves.

The accomplishment, coupled with a three goal game against Rutgers, earned Rocap the honor of Patriot League Offensive Player of the week.

The senior has 19 goals and 22 total points, good for second on the team in both categories.

The ‘Cats fell 20-5 to Monmouth on Tuesday, getting two goals each from Becky Gardner and Kathleen Kelly. Gardner leads the team in goals with 26 goals.

The team faces Lafayette on Saturday, before getting eights days off before their intra-city game against St. Joe’s. The game against Leopards is at 7 p.m.
