Villanova guys rock the preppy look

Lauren Curmi

Spring fever is in the air and that means it is time to put away all those boring winter sweaters and start anew with a rocking spring look. Women’s fashion dominates the media scene, but do not fear men; you have not been forgotten. I am here to tell you what’s in this spring season. Follow these tips and you will be sure to get some double takes while cruising to your upper level theology class in the morning.

Laid-back polos incorporating stripes and vintage tees dominated the runway this season. Additionally, classic oxfords in delicious spring colors and dark washed jeans give a laid-back look. My pick from J. Crew, the “preppy man’s store,” is a classic. The cable cashmere and 4-season cashmere sweaters are timeless.

The cable sweater for $148 is a bit heavier and appropriate for the transitional weather linking the winter and spring. The 4-season cashmere for $100 is a good investment piece and was shown in a variety of spring colors. Additionally, the essential chino 9″ shorts for $45 in cadet blue paired with a white tee or polo would look fabulous.

My pick from Polo Ralph Lauren is the vintage style polo for $75 in a variety of yummy spring colors such a blue and yellow. Additionally, the classic and fitted oxfords in pinks, baby blues, sea foam green, yellow and stripes couldn’t help but pull me out of my winter blues and into spring bliss.

Abercrombie featured a sexy leather belt with antiqued mental hardware for $69.50. This would look fantastic with some dark jeans and flip flops. Speaking of jeans, Bloomingdales has an impressive selection of jeans for men including 7 For All Mankind and Diesel.

Basic tees are a must-have for the spring season and Banana Republic has pima cotton pocket tees for $24 and no-tag fitted cotton crew tees for $16.50. These cotton tees looked comfortable and soft. Juicy Couture’s “Undercover Genius” vintage tee looked stylish for a man with a statement and was on sale at Bloomies for $75.

Men, do not fear fashion! The preppy look is always a classic, but an edgier look is also welcome. We fashionistas will surely appreciate a man who knows how to dress. Here is to a fabulous and fashionable spring.
