Student receives prestigious scholarship

PHILADELPHIA-Katelyn Polizzo, a resident of East Northport, NY, has been named the seventh recipient of the John P. Watson ’66- Danaher Scholarship at Villanova University.

The Danaher Corporation of Simsbury, Connecticut established the scholarship in memory of the company’s executive vice president of marketing. Watson, an electrical engineer, graduated from Villanova University College of Engineering in 1966.

The merit-based competitive scholarship awards full tuition and fees to a Villanova senior studying either marketing or engineering. Polizzo, a rising senior, is pursuing a double major in marketing and finance in the College of Commerce and Finance.

The University and the Danaher Corporation celebrated Ms. Polizzo’s success at a special luncheon in her honor at the Villanova Conference Center.

Danaher Corporation is a global designer, manufacturer and marketer of industrial and consumer products in two principal businesses: tool and components, and process/environmental controls.

Katelyn Polizzo competed with nine other students, all of whom are on the Dean’s List, for the scholarship. She has maintained a 3.58 cumulative grade point average and is a member of Beta Alpha Psi and Gamma Phi Business Honor Societies. Polizzo is also a varsity athlete as a member of the crew team, is sports section co-editor of the Belle Air Yearbook and serves as a Villanova Ambassador.
