On Tuesday night, the 18 on-campus Greek chapters were given the opportunity to perform skits in Jake Nevin Fieldhouse in front of other members of Greek Life.

Performances ranged from tightly choreographed dance numbers to more humorous presentations from Villanova’s fraternities.

This year’s skit night was judged by Assistant Dean of Students for Judicial Affairs Ryan Rost and Villanova basketball players Curtis Sumpter and Dwayne Anderson.

Greek Week kicked off Monday afternoon with the opening ceremonies and chariot race taking place on Austin Field.

All chapters from both the Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils competed throughout the week with events ranging from 3-on-3 basketball and flag football to tug of war.

On Tuesday, the can castle competition took place in which each organization used approximately 100 cans to create a sculpture. All events are organized and officiated by the Order of Omega, the Greek honor society.

Points were awarded based on final placement in each event. Additional “spirit” points were awarded for chapters who had at least 70 percent of their members attend the event.

While Greek Week served as a competition between campus fraternities and sororities, it also highlighted the philanthropic works of its members. Proceeds from admissions to Skit Night and canned goods donated by the chapters for the can castle competition benefit Walk for Hunger which takes place Saturday morning.

Greek Week concludes on Sunday at the Greek Awards Banquet where Chapter of the Year, as well as Greek Man and Woman of the Year, are announced.
