Rowing: ‘Nova takes UConn in Novice Eight

The rowing team competed against Big East rival Connecticut on Sunday in Philadelphia. In a contest where all races were 1,500 meters long and going against the current, the ‘Cats fell to the Huskies in the Varsity Eight and the second Varsity Eight but won the Novice Eight race.

In the Varsity Eight, UConn rowed a time of 5:53.8, beating out the 6:02 finish by ‘Nova. In a closer second Varsity Eight race, the Huskies edged out the ‘Cats by finishing with a time of 6:11.2. Villanova finished this race with a time of 6:16.1. In the Novice Eight, the Villanova boat beat out both of the UConn boats, finishing at a time of 6:20.9.

Next up for the team will be a trip to San Diego, Calif., this weekend to participate in the San Diego Crew Classic. — J.A.
