The Wisecat

Tina Lamsback

Dear Wisecat,

The holiday season is coming up, and I was wondering what kind of gift I should purchase for my significant other?

Sincerely,

Secret Santa

Dear Secret Santa,

It is great that you are in the spirit of giving! However, you must remember that this season was not created for giving gifts but for spending time with family, friends and loved ones. With that being said, why don’t you think of something you could do together. Maybe if he or she mentioned they enjoyed ice skating; there is always Penn’s Landing for a cute romantic spot. Or even the light show at Longwood Gardens- so romantic!

Be sure to personalize this gift. Thoughtful and personalized gifts are always the way to produce a smile. The more personalized, the more they will realize the amount of thought that you put into the gift.

XOXO Tina

Dear Wisecat,

I have had a big crush on my friend for a long time. I finally asked her out on a date. However, now I don’t know where to take her! What should I do?

Sincerely, First-Date Jitters

Dear First-Date Jitters,

The first date should always be centered around food. It is a great way to get to know someone, or in your case, if you are already friends, it’s great to get to know more about them. You will be able to talk freely about your interests at a restaurant and get answers to questions that you haven’t asked yet.

If you think about it, a restaurant always has something going on, so there will never be lull in conversation. A friend of mine always says, “If you find yourself talking about the weather, you know the date is downhill from there.”

If you really want, you could always try something more casual first. Lunch is always a safe bet. After getting to know the person a little more, dinner will be more your speed. All too often people go to movies for the first date. Poor choice. How are you supposed to learn more about the person if you’re supposed to be watching the movie? Stick with the meal, and go from there.

XOXO Tina
