“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” is the opening hook to one of the most popular movie franchises in the world, “Star Wars” The original creator of the movie saga, George Lucas, made six movies, intentionally releasing them in theaters out of order, starting with movies four, five and six (“A New Hope,” “The Empire Strikes Back” and Return of the Jedi”) in order for the audience to see the evolution of one of the most notorious villains in cinematic history, Darth Vader.

Lucas then released the remaining three films, numbers one, two and three (“The Phantom Menace,” “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith”) intended for the new millennium.

Unfortunately, fans did not like the newest edition to the films’ saga, because they felt the actors did not portray the characters well, even though the advancement in CGI technology helped with the films’ special effects to make certain aspects appear more realistic.

In 2013, it was announced that a new “Star Wars” movie was going to be made without Lucas, but instead would be directed by JJ Abrams.

Abrams is known for re-booting the “Star Trek” series for a new modern audience, which gives “Star Wars” fans hope that he will do a fantastic job directing the newest installment of the “Star Wars” film.

More than two trailers have been released so far about the movie, along with numerous sightings of the cast at events like ComicCon. Abrams’ story setting is apparently taking place 30 years after the last movie, “Return of the Jedi,” concluded. The Empire are defeated, and the universe returning to peace.

However, according to the trailer, the Empire is back with a new Sith lord (an evil Jedi), who is trying to accomplish the plans started by Darth Vader. New characters are being introduced. One might be a new Jedi knight who attempts to understand what a Jedi is.

In the trailer you see the new Jedi knight about to fight with the new Sith Lord. Abrams is trying to make the new movie appear like the original three installments to make fans happy.

He is also bringing back the original cast members to fulfill their original roles. The original cast is comprised of Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca).

The movie itself is leading to a new series of movies in the Star Wars saga for a new generation of children.

The synopsis of the film has not been released, although from the trailers the viewer can assume that there is a new evil villain who wants to finish the task of Darth Vader by taking over the universe, and the new young Jedi has to stop him with the help of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and the other original characters from the first original three films.

It also appears that Luke Skywalker has isolated himself from civilization since the fall of the Empire because he feels that he is becoming too powerful with The Force. Han Solo and Chewbacca meet the new inspiring Jedi, and are seen conversing in the trailer about the past wars, the dark-side, and Jedi knights/masters.

The movie itself appears to be very good and has sold over seven million dollars in pre-sale tickets in America alone. The movie is expected to debut on Dec. 18, 2015.
