Tucked away along the Main Line in Bryn Mawr, Hothouse Coffee is bustling with customers grabbing a quick latte or settling into the cozy seats for breakfast. Quaint and comfortable, the relaxing shop makes for a peaceful atmosphere perfect for a lazy Sunday morning or studious afternoon.

Located at 824 W Lancaster Ave, next to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, the classic coffee shop offers affordable prices. I opted for an almond croissant, paired with an iced chai latte for the lighter fare. With a wide selection of pastries, including muffins, scones and bagels, Hothouse also serves simple, heartier options, such as the Ultimate Oatmeal- topped with walnuts, cranberries, apples and bananas- or an egg sandwich with all the fixings. Hothouse also serves a small lunch menu during the afternoon hours as well.

For coffee lovers, the shop is a one-stop destination, serving every type of specialty drink imprinted with an Instagram-worthy latte leaf design. Similar to other coffee cafés, Hothouse serves seasonal drink specials for when you need a bit more flavor. But even if you don’t love coffee, there are still a plethora of options, with hot and iced tea options available as well.

It is a relatively small space, the large windows and plush bench-style tables make the café homey but never overcrowded. Well-lit, colorful and inviting, Hothouse is home to everyone from friends catching up over croissants to focused students preparing for exams.

Overall, the little place packs big flavor, serving as a perfect getaway when you need a change in scenery equipped with a much needed strong cup o’ joe.
