Grand Illumination Celebration in Peddler’s Village

Ready for the holidays? Peddler’s Village is getting in the spirit with extended hours this Friday. Enjoy festive displays and hot cider, plus over a million twinkly lights that will be lit up following a special ceremony at 6:15. The annual Gingerbread Competition and Display will also be unveiled in the Village’s gazebo. Plus, get a head start on your gift shopping with over 60 shops full of creations from local artisans.

Philadelphia Marathon

Calling all sports fans—one of our nation’s most historic races takes over Philadelphia during the third weekend of the month. The 26.2-mile course winds through the heart of the city and passes Philly’s most famous landmarks before runners cross the finish line along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The weekend also includes a half marathon, an 8K and a health and fitness expo. Thousands of spectators are expected to flood the city to cheer on the runners. Thanksgiving Day Parade

Staying in town for Thanksgiving? Catch the oldest Thanksgiving Day parade in the country! Celebrating its 97th year, the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, sponsored by 6ABC and Dunkin Donuts, will make its way down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Philadelphia Art Museum. The parade includes giant floats and balloons, performances from local dancers, choirs, and marching bands and a visit from Santa himself to usher in the holiday season.

Rothman Ice Rink/Winter Maze

Already excited for the winter season? You’re in luck! The Rothman Institute Ice Skating Rink at Dilworth Plaza reopens for its third year on November 11. Located in the heart of Center City, right next to City Hall, the rink offers skaters incredible views of the skyline. Visitors looking to warm up are invited to visit the Rothman Cabin which features a variety of snacks and seasonal cocktails. Plus, stayed tuned for more details about a recently announced new addition to the Plaza. The city recently announced that this year, an all-new winter maze will be open right next to the rink.
