March marks peak basketball season, which also means brackets and timely predictions.
However, instead of bracketing college basketball teams, what if we were to apply a similar format to student campus favorites?
From favored outdoor lawn spots to the variety of freshman dorms, Villanova’s culture has its own contenders, each seeking out a top spot.
After conducting a highly competitive bracket challenge, the results are in. We can now unveil the champions of Villanova’s campus life.
In the dining hall division, Cafe Nova, or COVA, stands out as the top seed thanks to its variety of options. The acaí bowl station and the “Southwest Station” both stood out as fan favorites.
However, the Connelly Center was a close second. It had a strong run due to its central location and unique sushi bowl station and on-the-go Wawa snack options. After a close call, COVA ultimately won the bracket for the dining hall division with its variety and dependable classics.
The freshman dorm matchup sparked a bit of debate and plenty of controversy, as each first-year hall is unique and has loyal fans. McGuire was in the lead for a while.
However, in the end, Good Counsel emerged as the winner of the freshman dorm division. Notable for its strong sense of community, Good Counsel is a consistent fan favorite amongst first-years. Good Counsel lies next to “SPIT,” which is a necessity for any freshman.
For many first-years, freshman year at Villanova is defined by hallway conversations and meeting fellow first-years in your dorm. Having friends to rely on is what makes Villanova have that true sense of a “new home.”
The favorite academic building division brought Villanova’s most notable study spaces into competition. Bartley was the clear champion. Bartley features a variety of study spaces that are both comfortable and optimal for productivity. The Bartley Cafe is a feature of this popular study space, making it such an active academic building on campus.
Finally, there must be a winning coffee shop to close this bracket. If you voted for the Commons Holy Grounds, then congratulate yourself on a perfect call. This coffee spot stands alone and offers students a study space along with treats and coffee.
The ambience is phenomenal, with music that keeps spirits lifted amid the treachery of midterms and finals. The food selection is always reliable, and the company is more than you could wish for.
The only downside? You might have the watch like a hawk for one of the tables to open up, which makes sense at this fan favorite.
While these categories are not competing in the real NCAA tournament, they still represent defining and memorable parts of life here at Villanova.
From studying in Bartley to bonding with your first-year neighbors, these areas of campus life shape college life for Villanovans.
Like the March Madness bracket, everyone will have slightly different picks.
But the winner lies in the memories that students make each day as they roam the beautiful campus they call home.
