On Friday, Towson graduate forward transfer Abdou Samb announced his commitment to Villanova men’s basketball on his Instagram.
Samb, 6-foot-8, appeared in seven games for Towson last season due to an Achillies injury, averaging 0.9 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.4 assists. He spent two seasons at Towson, with previous stops at IU Indy and Rhode Island.
He graduated high school from Freddrick Douglas High School (MD) and is a native of Upper Marlboro, Md.
Samb helps fill out a Villanova roster that was filled with a strong backcourt and has been searching for size in the paint.
Samb will be the fifth forward on the Villanova 2026-27 roster, joining two transfers – Oregon’s Kwame Evans Jr. and Ohio State’s Devin Royal. Matthew Hodge and Nico Onyekwere are returning to the Wildcats.
Villanova head coach Kevin Willard and staff are still looking for a true center, which could come on Saturday when international forward Luigi Suigo from Italy will make his decision to either stay or withdraw from the 2026 NBA Draft. The deadline to withdraw is June 13 at 5 p.m. The 7-foot-3 said he would withdraw from the draft if not a top 25 pick. He has been linked to Villanova and BYU if he decides to withdraw.
