Former Villanova transfer forward Zion Stanford is committing to Towson University, per CBS’ Jon Rothstein on X.
Stanford departed the program in early March after struggling with an ankle injury throughout the season and receiving limited playing time.
In his lone year with Villanova, Stanford averaged 1.3 points and 5.1 minutes per game. Prior to his junior year, the Philadelphia native averaged 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists at Temple University.
Towson finished with a 19-15 overall record for the 2025-26 season, finishing seventh out of 13 teams in the Coastal Athletic Conference (CAA). The program has not had a post season run since 2022, when it lost 74-64 to Wake Forest University in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
Stanford now joins freshman guard Acaden Lewis and sophomore guard Bryce Lindsay as the third member of the roster to enter the transfer portal and commit to a new program.
The transfer portal will remain open for two more days, allowing players to enter until April 21. Players who have entered the portal, however, do not need to commit to a school before the April 21 deadline.
