Villanova women’s basketball picked up its first portal play, junior Anna Foley. Foley spent three years at Quinnipiac, where she averaged 10.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game during her junior season.
The six-foot-three forward will help the Wildcats regain some height in the paint after graduating two senior centers, Denae Carter and Kylee Watson.
Foley hails from Andover, MA. She attended Andover High School, where she totaled 1,139 career points and was named 2022-23 Max Preps Massachusetts Basketball Player of the Year.
She contributed early on at Quinnipiac, starting in all 31 games her freshman year and averaging 13.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
Foley was named All-MAAC Second Team her sophomore year, as well as MAAC All-Academic Team. She averaged 10.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Foley also led Quinnipiac with 46 steals, and scored double-digits in 24 of 33 games that season.
This season, the Bobcats finished in first place in the MAAC, going 27-7 overall and 19-1 in conference. They even went on a 16-game winning streak, stretching nearly two months, from Dec. 19 to Feb. 12. One-seeded Quinnipiac ultimately fell to two-seeded Fairfield in the MAAC title game, 51-44.
In the championship game, Foley led the way against the Stags, with 17 points and nine rebounds. She was named to the All-MAAC Third Team.
Tricia Fabbri, who served as head coach of the Bobcats for 31 years, retired after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.
Foley is Villanova’s first addition to the roster from the transfer portal. With one incoming freshman, Alexis Eberz and the addition of sophomore Miky Panait during the regular season, head coach Denise Dillon will be looking to add a few more portal players.
So far, the ‘Cats have only lost one player, freshman MD Ntambue, to the transfer portal. It will remain open for six more days, closing on April 20, 2026. Currently, there are 11 scholarship spots filled on the team.
As of this morning, there are 1,450 players in the NCAA women’s basketball transfer portal, 169 committed and 12 withdrawn, according to On3.
