Villanova basketball is close to finalizing a home-and-home series against the University of Michigan, set to begin during the 2025-26 season.
The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Michigan will host this season’s contest in Ann Arbor at the Crisler Center. The return game will be played at Villanova during the 2026-27 season at the Finneran Pavilion.
A date and time for this upcoming season’s came has yet to be officially announced.
Last season, Michigan finished No. 10 in the final AP Poll of the season. The Wolverines had a 27-10 record and a 14-6 record in the Big 10 Conference. It was head coach Dustin May’s first season in charge of the program, replacing former head coach Juwan Howard.
The Wolverines made it to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament, but fell to Auburn, 78-65. It was Michigan’s first tournament appearance since the 2020-21 season when it made it to the Sweet 16.
It will be Villanova head coach Kevin Willard’s first season in charge. The Wildcats will field an entirely new roster aside from two returning Wildcats – rising junior guard Tyler Perkins and rising redshirt freshman Matthew Hodge.
Villanova will be without Eric Dixon for the first time in five seasons. The program will rely on key transfers such as graduate guard Devin Askew and four-star freshman guard Acaden Lewis to take the program back to the tournament for the first time since 2022.
As of Thursday, May 29, Villanova only has one official game scheduled. The Wildcats will open up the season on Monday, Nov. 3, against Brigham Young University in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the T-Mobile Arena. The game will be the second half of a double-header in the Hall of Fame Series.
