On Thursday, May 1, class of 2025 four-star guard Acaden Lewis announced his commitment to Villanova.
ESPN’s Jon Rothstein broke the news on Twitter on Thursday morning.
“The staff I ultimately had the most trust in was Nova,” Lewis told ESPN. “We built a relationship since my sophomore year, when I first transferred to Sidwell. Kevin Willard and his staff were among the first high-major coaches to recruit me at Maryland. I have built a great relationship with them and have immense trust that I will thrive and they will let me be me.”
The Washington, D.C. native and highly touted point guard decommitted from the University of Kentucky on April 10. He visited Villanova on Saturday, April 19. He also took visits to St. John’s, Georgia and Miami after decommitting.
Lewis previously received offers from the University of Connecticut, North Carolina, Duke and others.
According to 247Sports, Lewis is the No. 5 ranked point guard in the Class of 2025 and the No. 35 ranked player overall. In his senior year at Sidwell Friends School, the 6-foot-3 Lewis averaged 12.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. As a junior, he earned Gatorade Player of the Year for the District of Columbia.
Lewis is the third freshman recruit for Villanova head coach Kevin Willard, along with former Maryland commit Chris Jeffrey and three-star center Nico Onyekwere.
