Askew averaged 18.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists during the 2024-25 season. It was the best statistical season of his career.
He shot 40.1% from the field and 37.6% from beyond the arc at Long Beach State. His performance earned him an honorable mention for All-Big West.
Askew began his career as a five-star recruit at Kentucky in 2020. Since then, he played at four programs across five seasons, with stops at California, Texas and Long Beach State. Villanova will be the fifth program of his college career.
During his second season at Cal, Askew only played in six games due to a foot injury. In return, he earned a medical redshirt. He also earned a year of eligibility for the COVID season, bringing his total years of eligibility to six.
Askew hails from Mater Dei in Santa Ana, CA. He was ranked the 30th overall recruit, per On3Sports.
Villanova head coach Kevin Willard now has seven commitments this offseason either through the transfer portal or singing high school recruits. With Villanova losing its entire starting lineup from last season, Askew is expected to find his way into the starting lineup for the 2025-26 season.
This will be Askew’s final season of college eligibility. Villanova now has five open roster spots left to fill.
