On April 17, Grand Canyon junior forward Duke Brennan announced his decision to transfer to Villanova.
Sam Kayser of LeagueRDY was the first to release the news on X on Thursday night. Brennan later posted his decision on Instagram.
During the 2024-25 season at Grand Canyon, the 6-foot-10 forward averaged 10.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. As a starter, he helped the Lopes win the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) title and a trip to the 2025 NCAA Tournament. He finished the season with All-WAC Second Team honors.
Brennan faced off against his future coach in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 21. Grand Canyon fell to Kevin Willard’s Terps, 81-49. In the loss, Brennan scored two points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
In his sophomore year at Grand Canyon, Brennan averaged seven points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He played his first year at Arizona State, where he averaged 2.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Before transferring to Villanova for his final season of eligibility, Brennan took visits to Stanford and Iowa.
He was the third player of the day to announce his decision on Villanova, after Maryland transfer Braden Pierce and James Madison transfer Bryce Lindsay. The combination of Brennan and the seven-foot-tall Pierce will make height an advantage for the 2025-26 Wildcat roster.
With Brennan added to the list, Willard has picked up five players from the transfer portal so far. Temple’s Zion Stanford and Maryland’s Malachi Palmer also committed. Five open spots remain on Villanova’s roster.
