Exactly one week after being dismissed as Villanova’s head men’s basketball coach, Kyle Neptune will start a new chapter – in broadcasting.
On Friday afternoon, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Neptune will be joining CBS Sports for its coverage of the NCAA tournament.
The former Villanova head coach will make his debut Saturday night on NCAA March Madness 360 for its 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. segments. He will be joined by fellow analysts Roy Hibbert, Gary Parrish, Avery Johnson, and Pete Gillen.
Neptune will also be joined by another Big 5 head coach, former LaSalle head coach Fran Dunphy. After a 50-year coaching career, Dunphy retired at the end of LaSalle’s season this year. Dunphy will be on CBS, tonight, at 7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
As a member of the Lehigh basketball team from 2003-2007, Neptune graduated with a degree in journalism.
After graduating from Lehigh, Neptune had a brief career playing professionally overseas. His professional career saw him play first for BC Siauliai in Lithuania and Atleticos de San German in Puerto Rico.
Neptune began his coaching career as a video coordinator under Jay Wright in 2008. He was an assistant Coach at Niagara from 2010-2013 followed by an eight-year tenure as Wrights top assistant from 2013-2021.
He was named the head coach for Fordham in 2021 before coming back to Villanova the next season up until his firing on March 15, 2025.
Neptune follows similar paths as the last two Villanova head coaches. Steve Lappas began his stint with CBS after he was fired from the University of Massachusetts in 2005.
Lappas is now a play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports and Wright is an analyst for the network’s coverage of college basketball.
Wright also became a CBS analyst following his retirement from Villanova in 2022.
