Hello Villanovan staff! My name is Anne Martin, and I’m the co-head of the Concert Series at Bryn Mawr College. We’re having a concert on 10/26 at 3pm- Dear Nora, Jody Bleyle, and Kierstin Gray- and I was hoping you guys might be able to print this press release/write a little blurb/put in a listing for the show somewhere in your paper! I have attached the press release for the event with all the necessary info. We are trying to attract students from all of the colleges in the area because we bring really great bands to Bryn Mawr and we want more people to know about it and we want to try to catalyze interactions between the musically minded communities from all the area schools. Please email me if you have any questions, and I’d love to just get a quick email from you guys to confirm that you were able to put something in.Thanks so much!-anne martin

INDIE WOMEN TO CHARM BRYN MAWR WITH ROCK SONGS

BRYN MAWR COLLEGE- The Bryn Mawr College Concert Series welcomes Dear Nora, Jody Bleyle, and Kierstin Gray for a concert on Saturday, October 26th at 3pm in the Campus Center.

Dear Nora is a west coast Portland pop band who put out a great new album over the summer, “the new year,” on Magic Marker Records. Their songs range from sweet pop with oldies station style vocal harmonies and jingly tambourines to poignant poetic songs about the passage of time and the changing of the seasons. Katy’s voice expresses pure emotion that listeners breathe in as she exhales into the microphone. To listen to .mp3s, visit Dear Nora’s label’s website at www.magicmarkerrecords.com.

Jody Bleyle is quickly becoming a riot grrrl legend, having been in bands such as Hazel, Infinite Xs, and Team Dresch. She recently played at the Ladyfest in the San Francisco bay area, and will be delivering some of her left-coast solo/duo songs at Bryn Mawr.

Kierstin Gray’s style branches out from rhythm & blues roots into an acoustic blend of folk guitar and soulful melodies. Kierstin is a Bryn Mawr Alum, classically trained in violin & piano, whose love of music has inspired countless others who have flocked to see her perform. To listen to .mp3s and learn more about Kierstin, visit www.kierstingray.com.

The matinee concert at Bryn Mawr College’s Campus Center is $5, and open to the public. (Free to Swarthmore, Haverford and Bryn Mawr students.) All of the artists will be available after the performance to meet audience members and sign CDs. For a campus map or directions, visit www.brynmawr.edu/about/map_directions.shtml.
