Field Hockey Loses Consecutive Games Over Weekend

Despite their 3-3 record going into this weekend, Villanova dropped two difficult games against Liberty and Penn State. 

Liberty won by a score of, 5-0, moving the 13th ranked team to 6-1. One bright spot for the Wildcats was the goalkeeping by Claire Borman and Jordan McGinley, who had six and four saves respectively. The Flames move on to play at Quinnipiac Friday.

On Sunday, Villanova traveled to University Park and dropped another tough game to Penn State. The Nittany Lions grabbed their first win of the season by a score of, 8-2, outshooting the Wildcats 26-10. Christen Pennington and Emily Clarke contributed the two goals for Villanova. Penn State was led by Alexis Horst and Abby Myers, who had two goals each. Penn State heads to Bloomington to play Indiana Friday.

The 3-5 Wildcats are home for two games next weekend. Friday at 6 p.m., they will take on Providence in their third Big East matchup of the year. Then, Bucknell comes into town on Sunday at noon for a non-conference matchup. Both games will be played at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, Pa.
