On Tuesday, March 18, Villanova graduate forward Eric Dixon was named to the Associated Press All-American Third Team.
This season, Dixon led the nation in scoring, averaging 23 points per game over 32 contests. He also had a 47-game streak of scoring double digits that ended last week during the Big East Tournament.
Dixon started the season at 35th on the program’s all-time scoring list and soared to second with 2,235 points. He is just nine points shy of breaking Kerry Kittles’ (‘96) all-time scoring record of 2,243. Dixon currently ranks 13th on the Big East all-time scoring list.
It was the forward’s best season of his career. He improved his three-point shooting from last season’s 34.6% to this season’s 42.2% and earlier this month was named to the All-Big East First Team.
Over the course of his Villanova career, Dixon was involved in two NCAA tournament appearances, one of which was a trip to the Final Four in 2022. During the Final Four run, he started in all 38 of Villanova’s games.
Dixon is also just one of three Wildcats in program history to have over 2,000 points and 800 rebounds. The other two include Howard Porter (‘71) and John Pinone (‘83).
Dixon and the Wildcats will now prepare for the College Basketball Crown, a 16-team tournament in Las Vegas. Dixon will have at least one more attempt to break Villanova’s all-time scoring record when Villanova takes on Colorado on April 1 at 8:30 p.m (FS1).
