Villanova basketball is expected to finalize a home-and-home series with the University of Pittsburgh. The Wildcats will host the first game this upcoming 2025-26, with Pitt hosting the return game in the 2026-27 season.

The news was first reported on Wednesday, July 23, by Jon Rothstein of CBS on X (formerly known as Twitter). Rothstein noted the series is expected to be made official soon.
This game would mark the 11th non-conference game of Villanova’s 2025-26 season. Over the last three seasons, Villanova has played 11 non-conference games.
Pitt, a former member of the Big East Conference, holds a narrow all-time series lead against Villanova, 33-32. The Panthers have defeated the Wildcats in their last six meetings, with the most recent game played on March 2, 2013. Pitt won, 73-64.
Villanova head coach Kevin Willard is an alumnus of Pitt, graduating from the university in 1997. Willard played for the Panthers from 1994 to 1997, while his father, Ralph Willard, was the head coach.
In preparation for the upcoming season, the Wildcats will be hosting an open practice for fans on Monday, July 28, at 4 p.m. in the Finneran Pavilion. With 11 players joining the program this offseason, it will be a first look at the new squad for many fans.
