FirstGlance’s Annual Film Festival Plays Philly for a Sixth Year

Local Projects Showcasing Emerging Talent Have Premiere Screenings

Philadelphia, PA, April 7, 2003 – FirstGlance 6: Philadelphia’s first and only truly independent, bi-coastal film festival is proud to announce that it will run from Friday, June 6, 2003 to Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Prince Music Theater’s Cinema Lounge, The Sharon Pinkenson Project, 1412 Chestnut Street at Broad Street. Doors open 5:45 p.m. on Friday and 11:45 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. FirstGlance 6 invites you to spend the weekend celebrating over 50 truly independent projects by film and video makers from Philadelphia and the U.S. With over 35 Philadelphia, U.S., and world premieres, you’re sure to see something you’ve never seen before. The FirstNight reception on Friday, June 6th, includes food, beverages and special invited guests including Sharon Pinkenson, Executive Director, Greater Philadelphia Film Office, and the presentation of the third annual FirstGlance Award. The award is presented to a Philadelphian who has made a difference in Hollywood and Philadelphia. Previous winners include M. Night Shyamalan and Sharon Pinkenson. Who will it be this year? The reception is then followed by an evening of Philadelphia Premiere projects. Plus, all who attend the FirstNight reception will also have the opportunity to win an ALL ACCESS PASS. FirstGlance is excited to include the talents of Dakota Fanning (“I Am Sam”, “Cat in the Hat”), Chuck Zito and John Palumbo (“Oz”), Eileen Fulton and Paul Taylor (“As The World Turns”), The Dahm Triplets (Playboy magazine), Jaime Bergman (“Son of the Beach”), Anthony Russell (“Life With Bonnie”), and Johnny “Roastbeef” Williams (“Goodfellas”) among the group of talented actors and directors to be screened at FirstGlance 6.William Ostroff, FirstGlance Festival Director said, “After receiving over 450 submissions and an eight-week pre-screening process, FirstGlance 6 is proud to present an amazing mix of film and video. There’s something for everyone.” Screenings range from feature length to short animation from professionals and students. With new and improved jury cards, the audience decides the best projects in the festival. FirstGlance is the first festival to offer the audience the chance to vote for the festival winners.
