In a reversal of a decision announced in the final weeks of the Spring 2025 Semester, Villanova Dining Services terminated what would have been a major change to its meal plan options for the 2025-26 academic year in an email to the Villanova community midday Tuesday.
For 2024-25, Villanova offered an unlimited plan, a 21 meals per week plan, 18 meals, 10 meals and a 100-block plan. Originally for this upcoming year, Villanova was implementing a pilot program of different meal options per week: unlimited, 18 meals, 12 meals, six meals and a 100-block plan, each with different add-ons available.
Each new plan came with a unique name. 18 meals was named the “Frequent Foodie” and saw price increases from the 2024-25 options, for instance, and a $200 increase was attached to the 18-meal plan from the 21-meal plan a year earlier.
Now, those plans appear to gone, according to the email from Dining Services, informing students who had already selected a plan of the changes.
“All students have been placed into the plan that most closely aligns with the one they selected, or were assigned to, in the spring,” the email read.
However, what’s not changing is the increase in price per plan, as the nearly $200 increase appears to remain attached to the revived options – perhaps related to the tuition hikes announced by the University last semester, which range from $4650 per semester for the unlimited plan, down to $2650 for the 100-block plan. This change also does not lock students into whatever plan they were automatically switched to.
“If you’d like to select a different plan for the 2025-26 academic year, you can make your selection in your dining portal between Monday, July 14 and Tuesday, Sept. 2,” the email read.
Dining Services also encouraged members of the Villanova community to contact their staff with any questions or comments.
