10 Totally Random Questions for…Divakar Lal
April 30, 2014
1.What is the most interesting pair of underwear you own? Currently, I have a fairly bland repertoire of boxers. I guess I’d have to go with my pink boxers that have swordfish with an American flag pattern for scales. All-time (circa 2003), though, I was given a pair of boxers for Christmas that read “nuts for hockey” with hockey equipment. 2.Favorite band that you love but is totally underrated by your friends? Third Eye Blind, hands down. Despite not rocking the ’90’s bowl-cut, I am a ’90’s music bum and a 3eb fiend, so I could listen to them for days. 3.If you had to ballroom dance with one celebrity who would it be and why? I’ll preface this by saying my dancing skills are subpar. Rachel McAdams would be my choice. I think it’s pretty obvious why. 4.Where is the first place you’ll go once you’re home for the summer? I’ll probably grab some pasta from one of my favorite restaurants back home, “Pastabilities.” Nothing concrete yet. 5.If you could switch lives with one person for a day who would it be? Dustin Pedroia. Being able to play baseball-especially at his level-would be pretty sick. His office is Fenway Park, he has to wear a hat at his job, gets to eat sunflower seeds and chew bubblegum and he gets paid to play an awesome sport. 6.Which senses would you rather switch-being able to see out of your nostrils or smell out of your eyeballs? I can’t say I’d like the ability to smell out of my eyes. I don’t need to tear up any more when I cut onions, nor do I think I would like to experience any extra malodorous situations. If I could see out of my nostrils that could really bring peripheral vision to a whole new level so I’d go for that. 7.Weirdest nickname you’ve ever been given? I was once called “Vlad” after the NBA player Vlade Divac, which was derived from another nickname, “D-vak.” Out of my most used and current nicknames, I’d have to say “Sweet D” is the most interesting/weird since it is based on the female character, Dee, from the show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” 8.What will you miss most about Villanova once you graduate? Special Olympics. I was lucky enough to be an LPH, and that truly was one of the best experiences I’ve ever been a part of. Being able to take part in the last three Fall Festivals was tremendous. Fall Festival is an incredibly unique and euphoric weekend that makes unforgettable memories for everyone involved-athletes, students, parents and coaches. 9. Do you own a pair of American flag shorts? Nope. Given my affinity for wearing shorts, it would seem likely that I’d own a pair. 10. Song lyric that is your mantra in life? Tough to single out just one, but I’m going with the following from Kenny Chesney’s song “Live a Little”: Been going like nothing can wait / I gotta get my priorities straight / I need to live a little, have some fun / Take some time, waste it on number one.
