Women’s Soccer Advance in Big East Tournament
November 6, 2019
For the first time since 2004, the women’s soccer team will be advancing to the Big East Tournament semifinals.
On a chilly Sunday afternoon, the ‘Cats would break through in the 30th minute after Shannon Casey finished a chaotic sequence off a free kick. The rest of the game was played as evenly as a 4-5 matchup would indicate, but unfortunately for the Blue Demons, they were never able to get a quality look at the goal. Goalkeeper Rebecca Gartner, who recorded her 5th shutout of the season, had a strong five save performance.
The Wildcats will look to survive and advance, as they go on the road to Creighton University to take on the #1 seeded Xavier Musketeers on Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
