On Wednesday, the Charlotte Hornets announced that they signed former Villanova forward Eric Dixon.
Dixon, Villanova men’s basketball’s all-time leading scorer, will join the Hornets after being waived by the Los Angeles Lakers on Sept. 27. He will reunite with his former head coach, Kyle Neptune, who joined Charlotte’s staff last month.

The 6-7 forward went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft this past June. Dixon verbally agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers as an undrafted free agent. However, due to a foot injury, he ended up signing a two-way contract with the team instead.
In his final season at Villanova, Dixon averaged a nation-leading 23.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and a 40.7% three-point average per game. He was named to the 2024-25 AP All-American Third Team and was also a unanimous All-Big East First Team selection.
Dixon made a Sweet 16 appearance as a redshirt freshman and a Final Four run as a redshirt sophomore.
During the College Basketball Crown Tournament in March, Dixon became the program’s leading scorer with 2,286 points, surpassing Kerry Kittles (2,243 points).
He was just one of three Wildcats in program history to have over 2,000 points and 800 rebounds.
The Hornets began their 2025-26 preseason on Oct. 5 with a 135-114 loss to the Thunder. They will now face The Thunder once again on Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
Charlotte begins its regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at home against the Brooklyn Nets (7:00 p.m., Fan Duel Sports Network).
