Earlier last week she said goodbye to Villanova and thanked Nova Nation.
“Thank you, Nova Nation, for the support these past two years,” Webber said last week in a caption on her Instagram post. “I am so grateful and blessed to have played with such amazing people who have become my best friends. Thank you to the coaching staff and team for giving me these unforgettable memories. I will always cherish and never take for granted the time I spent as a Wildcat.
Webber entered the transfer portal on Thursday, April 3, soon after Villanova was eliminated in the semifinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT).
In her sophomore season, she started in all 36 games, averaging 13.3 points and 2.9 rebounds. Webber was named to the All-Big East Second Team.
A highlight of her season was her career-high 30-point performance against DePaul on Feb. 12.
So far, Webber is the only Wildcat to enter the transfer portal on the women’s basketball team.
Webber’s teammate, freshman guard Jasmine Bascoe, announced she was returning to Villanova next season.
Illinois was an eighth seed in the NCAA Tournament this season. The team finished sixth in the Big 10 with an 22-10 overall record.
Webber has two years of eligibility remaining as she starts a new chapter as a Fighting Illini.
