Breaking: Development in Dispute Over Alleged Accomplice’s Presence at Commencement

Doug Maute, the attorney representing the alleged accomplice “Juan Eguigren” has shared with the victim’s attorney, Jay Edelstein Esq, that his client will not be in attendance at Villanova University’s Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2025 on May 16. The victim’s lawyer has confirmed this update with The Villanovan by sharing the following text message: 

“I represent Juan Eguiguren and issue the following statement on his behalf:
Mr. Eguiguren does not wish for his presence to detract attention from the deserved recognition and celebration of the Class of 2025 at Villanova University’s Commencement Ceremony. Therefore, he will not be in attendance. Sincerely, Doug Maute”

Emma Cahill is one of the Co-Editors-in-Chief of The Villanovan in 2024. A senior Political Science and English double major, Emma held the position of Co-Culture Editor in 2023. Emma has covered anything and everything during her time writing for the paper, ranging from March Madness in New Orleans, to horoscopes, to interviewing Sebastian Stan. Emma is a very passionate person, namely about her family and friends, Taylor Swift, and especially Long Island bagels. When she is out of the office, Emma can be spotted giving tours of campus for Blue Key or strolling around Villanova with an iced coffee in hand.

Brooke Ackerman
Brooke Ackerman, Co-Editor-in-Chief
Brooke Ackerman is one of the Co-Editors-in-Chief of The Villanovan in 2025. A junior studying Communications and Journalism, Brooke has formerly served as the Co-Sports Editor in 2023 and the Associate Editor-in-Chief in 2024. She has a love for all things sports and fosters this passion through covering collegiate athletics for The Philadelphia Inquirer. When she isn’t watching sports or editing articles in the basement of Corr, Brooke can be found spending time with her friends, shopping, baking or planning her next trip overseas.
