On Wednesday, Oct. 16, four-star guard Dante Allen announced his commitment to Villanova men’s basketball on a live stream hosted by 247Sports. Allen is Villanova’s first recruit of the 2025 recruiting class.
Allen – the son of former Villanova forward Malik Allen – chose Villanova from a final three that also included Tennessee and Georgia.
The six-foot-three guard will attend Montverde Academy in Florida for his senior season. Previously, Allen attended Riviera Prep in Miami, Florida. Montverde is well known as a basketball powerhouse in the state, with notable alumni including NBA players Joel Embiid and Cade Cunningham and Duke freshman Cooper Flagg.
In Allen’s junior season at Riviera Prep, he averaged 21 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 3.0 assists. Notably, Allen succeeded with the deep ball, hitting 45.3% of his three-point attempts.
His junior performance earned him Miami-Dade 4A-2A Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
Allen led Riviera Prep to back-to-back Florida state championships.
Allen also won three Nike EYBL championships, and his list of trophies is among the most decorated in his recruiting class.
Villanova was one of 15 schools that offered Allen. Other offers aside from his final three included Miami, Creighton, LSU, Marquette, Syracuse, Memphis, Illinois and Notre Dame.
Allen is ranked 62nd in the 2025 recruiting class by 247Sports.
