On Wednesday, April 10, sophomore guard Mark Armstrong announced in a statement on his Instagram page that he was declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft.
Per the Montgomery Sports Group, Armstrong is “testing the waters” by entering his name in the draft. He will maintain his college eligibility.
In Armstrong’s second year with the team, he earned a spot in the starting lineup. Armstrong started in 32 of Villanova’s 34 games. He averaged 8.4 points and 2.3 assists in 24.5 minutes per game.
Throughout the season there were issues with turnovers as well as cold spells.
There was no announcement regarding Armstrong entering the transfer portal.
Armstrong could still return to Villanova next season. He has until May 29 to withdraw his name from the draft without losing his eligibility.
The guard was a four-star recruit out of Saint Peter’s Prep. Armstrong was ranked the number one recruit in the 2022 class out of New Jersey by 247Sports.
As of now, the team has four open scholarships after the recent announcement that sophomore guard Brendan Hausen entered the transfer portal. If Armstrong chooses to remain in the draft, it will open up a fifth scholarship for Villanova.
