“WHEREFORE ART THOU, CUP O’ JOE?” Villanova students re-create authors’ styles to win free books…and breakfast

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ (April 29, 2002) – “To bean or not to bean?” That’s the question that students from Villanova University are being asked. The Dunkin’ Donuts “Freshly Ground Prose” contest is challenging undergrads with their toughest assignment to-date. Charged to write about their “love of coffee and breakfast” in the literary voice of their choice, participants can bring their best writing impressions from the likes of Poe, Shakespeare, Hemingway … even Dr. Suess. During the Dunkin’ Donuts Finals Café, Friday and Saturday, May 10th and 11th, outside “the Oreo” (Outside Connelly Center), students can vie for free textbooks, and to have their breakfast tab picked up by Dunkin’ Donuts for the rest of their undergraduate college career – while taking a refreshing (and energizing) break from the labors of finals studying. Entries – one per student and no more than 100 words – will be collected at the Dunkin’ Donuts Finals Café until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11th. Entries will be reviewed for creativity, originality and use of the literary voice. One lucky winner from each campus will begin summer vacation with coupons for books, coffee and donuts to redeem the following semester. Dunkin’ Donuts Finals Cafes bring the “Freshly Ground Prose” contest to the New York- and Philadelphia-areas brewing outside of campus libraries and student centers. During finals week, Dunkin’ Donuts will be serving free coffee and accepting entry forms from students at five area schools, including Seton Hall University, Villanova University, University of Delaware, Hofstra University and Rutgers University. Dunkin’ Donuts is the largest coffee and baked goods chain in the world. With 5,000 combined locations in the United States and 35 countries around the world, Dunkin’ Donuts has established a worldwide reputation for quality, freshness and convenience. Dunkin’ Donuts USA is based in Randolph, Mass., and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Allied Domecq PLC.# # #For more information about the contest and for a copy of the official contest rules, college students can call 877-WE-DUNKN (877-933-8656).
