The first of the two wins came against Georgetown on Saturday at the Jake Nevin Field House. The ‘Cats swept the Hoyas 3-0, with scores of 30-26, 30-24 and 30-26.
The last game of the match was a gut-wrencher, with Georgetown leading 26-25, but behind the leadership of Jennifer Badran-Grycan, Jennifer Edwards and Katie Lanting, ‘Nova was able to gain the momentum back and seal the victory.
Kerri Sullivan and Lanting each smacked 12 kills to help the ‘Cats towards the victory. Erin Birunas totaled eight kills and Celine Nguyen tallied seven kills and eight digs.
Both were big factors that gave ‘Nova the win in game one. Edwards added 18 assists and Badran-Grycan managed 17 helpers.
The second win came in a home match against the University of Delaware on Tuesday. Villanova won 3-1, with scores of 30-18, 25-30, 30-20, 38-36.

Outside hitter Birunas reached the 500-plateau for both kills and digs during her Wildcat career. With 139 kills this season, she now is at 595 kills for her career in addition to 535 career digs.
Sullivan continues to hold strong in the top 10 rankings in two Big East categories, kills per games and points per game.
