Mission 2: P.O.W.E.R. Up the Polar Express: December 9 & 10, 2003, 11a.m.- 5:30 p.m., Villanova Room
The P.O.W.E.R. behind the Center for Health and Wellness Education comes from the peer educators who provide programming, events, and education to their peers on campus. The P.O.W.E.R. peers are split among two areas; P.A.S.S. (Peers Advocating Substance Safety) and S.O.S. (Sexual Offense Support). One of the peers’ efforts for the holidays is to workwith the Villanova community to help provide support to the local community groups who represent people associated with each of their groups’ missions during the holiday season.
“P.O.W.E.R. Up the Polar Express” during CAT’s annual Holiday Bazaar by supporting the P.O.W.E.R. peers. This year, the peers will be serving free hot cocoa and pictures with Santa for all Villanova students. Students, faculty and staff can also participate in the annual basket raffle where winners will receive one of many exciting theme baskets that offices throughout campus have donated (themes include fitness, gadgets and gizmos, Irish Christmas, movie night, and more). The raffle’s proceeds will benefit two needy families identified through Delaware County Children & Youth Services and the Domestic Abuse Project in Media, groups associated with P.O.W.E.R.’s missions. The students will use the money to purchase holiday gifts for the families.
For those who wish to help support the Center for Health and Wellness Education’s P.O.W.E.R. peers and their missions, more educational events and programs will be advertised in 2004.
