That’s Entertainment: March 12

* In news that doesn’t sit well with us, Johnny Cash’s classic “Ring of Fire” was almost turned into a Preparation H jingle thanks to some contract confusion. Luckily Cash’s estate soothed the burning issue before it got anyone too irritated.
* Last week saw the release of the film adaptation of “Starsky and Hutch” which was based upon the popular 1970s cop show. While the movie has been released to mixed reviews, we say it’s pretty fab with little emphasis on the drab.
* In yet another Hollywood tour de farce, Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears have been mentioned to star as Daisy in a remake of the 1970s outlaw classic “The Dukes of Hazzard.” Both have the brains and the body, but only one of them will be able to wear the shorts.
* In a move that surprised nobody, “The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King” made a clean sweep at last week’s Oscars. The final installment of Tolkien’s classic tale won an unprecedented 11 out of 11 awards. Frodo would be proud.
* In financial news, music giant Tower Records applied for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last week due to competition from other super stores such as Wal-Mart and Best Buy not to mention the increase usage of file sharing among America’s youth.
