Sleepless in Seattle (1993)

“What if someone you never met, someone you never saw, someone you never knew was the only someone for you?” Sam (Tom Hanks) is a recently widowed father who is struggling to forget that he had it “great and perfect for a while.” Then one night his son, Jonah, calls a radio station in hopes of finding someone to make his father happy. Annie (Meg Ryan) is a recently engaged working girl who stumbles across the radio show and hears the heart-wrenching story of Sam and his son. As time goes by, Annie finds her fiancé more and more quirky while falling deeper in love with someone she has never met. Annie and hundreds of other women write letters to the mysterious widower. Jonah intercepts Annie’s letter and responds on behalf of his father, arranging a meeting at the top of the Empire State Building.

Serendipity (2001)

Once in a lifetime you fall in love. Once in a lifetime you get a second chance. A fortunate accident brings together Jonathan Trager (John Cusack) and Sara Thomas (Kate Beckinsale) in a crowded department store. Pretty Woman (1990)

The Richard Gere/Julia Roberts classic is a romantic favorite. It is a Cinderella story that challenges the conventions of love. Vivian Ward is a Hollywood Boulevard prostitute making a living the best way she can; Edward Lewis is a ruthless businessman who has no time for love. He needs an escort and she needs the money… a match made in heaven!

Don Juan Demarco (1995)

This is the story of a young man who comes to New York in search of his long lost love. He claims that he is the legendary Don Juan Demarco, the greatest lover in the world. A retired psychiatrist (Marlon Brando) brings Don Juan in (Johnny Depp) to help him discover his “true” identity. For ten days Don Juan tells the old man his moving and passionate life story. Through his story, Don Juan must make the people around see beyond what is visible to the eye: “What is sacred? Of what is the spirit made? What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for? The answer to each is the same: only love.”

Moulin Rouge (2001)

Satine (Nicole Kidman), the sparkling diamond, is a prostitute at the Moulin Rouge, and Christian (Ewan McGregor), a penniless poet, falls in love with her. She is reluctant to let herself love him because of their differences and her initial love of riches. Eventually they fall deeply in love though everyone tries to keep them apart. While trying to do what is best for each other, they are ultimately torn apart. In the end, death can’t stop their love.

Notting Hill (1999)

She’s a famous movie star and he’s an ordinary bookstore owner. William Thacker (Hugh Grant) is in love with the most beautiful woman in the world, Anna Scott (Julia Roberts). The problem is that the paparazzi can’t let her have a normal love. The two come to face the crucial question: “Can two people fall in love with the whole world watching?”

The Notebook (2004)

You never forget your first love and nothing can keep you from him or her. This is a story read by a husband to a wife suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. It is their story that brings her back. Two teenagers from different worlds (Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams) are enjoying their young love when ultimately her parents and WWII keep them apart. Behind every great love is a great story.
