Change in journalistic philosophy of Villanovan?
September 30, 2005
As an alumna of Villanova, I have noticed that the Villanovan is now using some articles procured from other college newspapers. I think this is an unfortunate choice. I enjoy reading what current Villanova students have to say, and I am sure that there are enough ideas on Villanova’s campus to fill your pages. Also, there seems to be a trend to include more “fluff” articles in your Opinion section, and there is less discussion of more serious issues. While some of these are amusing, and certainly have some place in the paper, I do think a quality university student newspaper should focus more on the types of issues that have global, national and local interest. I hope to see a higher level of journalism in future issues.
