Season Recap: Men’s Cross Country
May 2, 2007
As usual, the men’s cross country team put together a sucessful season. The team was an eclectic mix of experience and youth that looked set to do some damage during the fall season. The season started off strong with a third-place finish at the Princeton Invitational. Of course, the goal was to make a lasting impression at the Big East championships. Despite a promising start to the season, the Wildcats had to settle for a sixth-place finish. They will look to improve on that finish next season.
The senior-laden Wildcats squad featured several impressive performances from its upperclassmen. The conference noticed the impressive season of senior Michael Kerrigan. He led the way for Villanova with his performance and experience. Fellow seniors Andrew Keino and Robert Curtis also turned in impressive seasons during the ’06 campaign.
The team will miss the presence of the six graduates, but despite that, the Wildcats look ready to make a dent in the Big East cross country hierarchy. With the majority of the team returning, including seven promising freshmen coming off strong campaigns, Villanova will once again have the leadership and experience necessary for a successful season in 2007.
