EDITORIAL: A goodbye to our seniors

As final exams, term papers and graduation approach, we’d like to use some space here to thank the seniors who have dedicated their college careers to this publication before — and even after — passing  it on to us in January.

In addition to the countless writers, photographers and copy editors who have shared their talents each week to make The Villanovan possible, we must bid adieu to the senior editors who have, each in his or her own way, made an indelible impact on this paper.

Lee Betancourt, Dave Cassilo, Maggie Mallon and Kathleen McFadden were essential to their individual sections and integral members of the office atmosphere.

Amanda Doyle was a bold leader, ruling the copy desk and never settling for less than stellar content.

Meredith Davisson, our managing editor, was a strong voice on the Editorial Board, holding her own in the debates that invariably go into producing a newspaper each week.

Jess Ramey was indispenable to the publication as business manager for three years.

And last, but certainly not least, we owe much gratitude to our editors in chief, Tim Richer and Laura Welch, who were the leaders we aspire to be. Thank you not only for your encouragement, but also for always being there to answer a frantic text or call.

Thanks, once more, for leading the way. It’s been real, and if your commitment to this paper is any indication, we know that great success awaits you all.
